Ecology Club of Kamchatka offers free lessons for junior school pupils, titled "Eco-heroes"
The "EcoHeroes" course, a joint effort by the First Movers youth naturalist community and the Foxford online school, is a free educational programme available until June 30th (https://ecology.foxford.ru/). This initiative is aimed at educating elementary school students about the importance of not harming wildlife and the environment.
In this course, junior naturalists are hailed as real superheroes. Egor the tadpole, a character in the course, explains that junior naturalists are children who help nature. The adventures in the course aim to teach children why they should not touch wild animals, pick plants, or pollute the environment.
The "EcoHeroes" project is designed to introduce children to the basics of ecology in an interactive and engaging way. Through games, quizzes, and hands-on projects, children actively participate in learning rather than passively consuming information. This approach helps solidify their understanding and encourages critical thinking about human impact on the environment.
The course demonstrates that simple habits, like using a shopping bag at the store or turning off the water while brushing teeth, can help save the environment. It provides children with practical conservation tips they can implement in their daily lives to help conserve resources, reduce waste, and protect wildlife.
Storytelling and characters are integral parts of the "EcoHeroes" course. Relatable characters and stories engage children emotionally, making the lessons memorable and inspiring them to act as “eco-heroes” in their communities.
The "EcoHeroes" course also promotes collaboration and community. By involving families and educators, it creates a supportive environment where children can share their learning experiences and encourage collective ecological responsibility.
The ultimate goal of the "EcoHeroes" project is to foster a sense of responsibility towards the environment and motivate children to participate in conservation efforts. By empowering children with knowledge and motivation, the "EcoHeroes" course aims to build a generation more conscious of ecological sustainability.
Teachers are encouraged to use the project materials for thematic lessons with their students, making the "EcoHeroes" course an excellent resource for educators as well as students. So, if you're an educator looking for a way to engage your students in environmental education, or a child interested in learning about the environment in a fun and interactive way, the "EcoHeroes" course is definitely worth checking out. Don't miss out on this opportunity to become an "EcoHero" before June 30th!
