Durham University Alumni Dominate Study UK Awards 2023 Finals
Durham University graduates have made their mark globally, with six alumni reaching the finals of the prestigious Study UK Alumni Awards 2023. The awards, celebrating UK higher education's impact, span four categories, with winners and finalists gaining international recognition.
In the Culture and Creativity category, Chris Boyd, a writer and filmmaker, and Eithar Alangari, Vice President of Applied Programmes at Shaqra University, are finalists for the USA and Saudi Arabia respectively. Boyd's work has been recognised for its cultural impact, while Alangari's leadership in education has left a mark on Saudi Arabia's academic landscape.
The Social Action category saw Sugandha Yadav, an advocate at the Supreme Court of India, emerge victorious. Her dedication to social causes has earned her this prestigious accolade. Meanwhile, Sakib Anim, an Associate Professor in Economics, is a finalist in the Science and Sustainability category for Bangladesh, recognised for his contributions to sustainable development.
In the Business and Innovation category, Philippe De Raet, a business executive, joins Iynna Halilou, an early-stage tech investor, as a finalist for the USA. Halilou's success has earned her not only a national win but also a global finalist spot.
Durham alumni's achievements are celebrated internationally, with these finalists and winners benefiting from increased PR and global recognition. Their success stories highlight the positive impact of UK higher education, with alumni making strides in various fields worldwide.
