Dramatic Association of St. Wolfhelm Hamlet High School in the Kent Convent Makes Headlines

What started off as a small passion project in 1976 has morphed into a theatrical powerhouse that has brought families together for over four decades. Dr. Achim Besgen, the club's founder, couldn't have put it better when he said, "This theater club is a goddamned gem."

From humble beginnings, this passion for dramatic arts has transformed numerous lives. Some alumni have made it big in professional theater, while others remain loyal to the club, passing their love for the stage to the third generation.

In 2025, the Theater Club will pull off an jaw-dropping feat: performing Shakespeare's masterpiece, Hamlet, at the breathtaking Kent Convent Church in Schwalmtal-Hostert. The play, a classic tale of power, betrayal, and moral turmoil, will unfold against the stunning backdrop of this unique location. Is suicide the way out of a forced tragic spiral? Guess we'll find out. "To be or not to be, that is the question."

This performance will mark the first time that the Kent Convent Church has ever hosted a production of Hamlet. The convent's owner has kindly granted exclusive rights for the theater club to stage the play in this one-of-a-kind setting. The size and condition of the space limits seating, and unfortunately, it is not wheelchair accessible. Specific guidelines will be provided to ticket-holders to ensure respect for this sacred location. Shows are as follows:

  • Friday, June 27th at 7:30 PM
  • Saturday, June 28th at 7:30 PM
  • Sunday, June 29th at 5:00 PM

Tickets for this unmissable event can be snatched up for 15 euros at the town hall's info point.
