Competition Begins for Future Skilled Careers: WorldSkills 2025 Championship Commences

In Astana, the 10th annual regional competition, WorldSkills Astana-2025, officially commences, as reported by Liter.kz.

This year, an unprecedented number of participants have applied, exceeding 300, across 49 skill categories. WorldSkills is an international movement championing the renown and prestige of skilled trades, with over 80 countries as members. Kazakhstan joined the WorldSkills community as a full member in 2014. The first city championship was held in Astana in 2015, with six students competing across five fields.

The winners from the regional stage will have the opportunity to represent the capital at the national championship, WorldSkills Kazakhstan-2025, scheduled for the fall. Last year, Astana's team claimed the first-place spot in the team standings at the national level.

Competitions will unfold from May 16 to 30 on 15 platforms in capital colleges. The most proficient competitors in disciplines such as bricklaying, prototyping, confectionery, auto repair and maintenance, welding technology, restaurant service, mobile robotics, cooking, hairdressing, graphic design, cloud programming, and others will be determined.

Approximately 300 competitors, around 250 experts, and up to 4000 guests are participating in the championship. Special competitions are also taking place within the event: Abilympics for students with disabilities, DeafSkills for participants with hearing impairments, and JasSkills for schoolchildren.

Large-scale events aiming to bolster professional education are also planned, including the Republican Championship Chocolatine Kazakhstan 2025, master classes and excursions based on colleges, and a school camp as part of the "100 profile classes" project in fields such as service, design, IT, pedagogy, medicine, sewing, and railway engineering.

WorldSkills Astana-2025 transcends being merely a competition; it serves as an investment in shaping future professionals. The event contributes significantly to strengthening competitiveness, developing innovations, and creating in-demand jobs in Kazakhstan, emphasizing the country's commitment to advancing skilled trades and vocational education, both domestically and internationally.

Participants in the WorldSkills Astana-2025 competition are actively seeking opportunities for education and self-development, as well as career development, through skills training in various disciplines such as bricklaying, prototyping, confectionery, and many more. The winners of this competition will not only learn valuable skills but also have the chance to represent their city at the national level, ultimately contributing to strengthening Kazakhstan's competitiveness and advancing its vocational education on both a national and international scale.
