In a significant development at MIT Medical, Dr. William Kettyle has announced his resignation from the position of Medical Director, effective immediately. This news was shared in an email sent today by Executive Vice President and Treasurer Israel Ruiz to MIT faculty and staff.

Dr. Kettyle, who joined MIT Medical in 1993 as an internist and endocrinologist, has been a vital part of the institution for over two decades. He ascended to the role of Associate Medical Director in 1995 and took on the mantle of Medical Director in 1998.

Throughout his tenure, Dr. Kettyle has made substantial contributions to MIT, expanding the services offered by MIT Medical, fostering stronger connections with students, and increasing community involvement in preventive care.

In addition to his role as Medical Director, Dr. Kettyle has been a mentor and teacher, co-directing the Health Sciences and Technology (HST) course in endocrine pathophysiology for over 30 years and teaching Introduction to Clinical Medicine in the HST Program for over 20 years.

While Dr. Kettyle is stepping down from his current role, he will continue to serve MIT on a part-time basis, focusing on issues related to health care benefits and regulation. His successor has not yet been named, and he will remain in his current role until a new Medical Director is appointed.
