The latest report from the committee on science, media, data protection, freedom of information, and digitalization demonstrates a significant surge in student enrollment at the public and private universities in Bremen for the upcoming winter semester.

At the onset of the winter semester 2024/25, a total of 40,170 students commenced their studies, marking a 7.1 percent increase compared to the previous winter semester, with an additional 2,661 students. Among the public universities, all institutions except for the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration, which reported a decrease of 20 students, witnessed an growth.

There was a particular increase in the number of first-year students, with approximately 7,240 enrolling in 2024, a leap of more than 14 percent from the previous year.
