Artisan Animators Travel from Novi to Burundi, Constructing Schools and Supplying Amusement

In the heart of Italy, a group of young individuals from Novi and Serravalle are preparing for an unusual holiday. This year, they are joining the annual trip organised by the non-profit organisation, "Listen to Africa", setting off on August 9th. Their destination? Murayi, diocese of Tortona in Burundi.

For about twenty years, "Listen to Africa" has been strengthening the bond between Novi and Murayi, a connection that dates back to 1972. This year, the group consists of approximately twenty people, including some youths, who will act as animators for 800 boys and girls of Murayi.

The project in Burundi is self-financed through the efforts of the people of Novi and other members of the Tortona diocese. The economic support from donors stimulates "Listen to Africa" to do better and is a moral commitment for them to respect.

The primary focus of this year's trip is to coordinate on-site aid and support provided by "Listen to Africa" and its members. The organisation aims to complete six school classrooms in the area and implement a water project that aims to increase the distribution of drinking water with an aqueduct that can serve Kanyinya.

The completed school center is intended to be named after Don Alfredo Ferrari, a significant figure in the history of "Listen to Africa". The support from the territory, including companies, private individuals, and donors, is crucial for "Listen to Africa". The self-financing evenings of "Listen to Africa" are fundamental in raising the necessary funds.

As the group prepares to return to Italy by the end of August, they carry with them the hope of making a difference in the lives of those in Murayi. Despite limited information available about "Listen to Africa" and Italian animators working in Africa, the organisation's commitment to improving the quality of life in Burundi remains steadfast.
