Anticipating Developments: A Look Ahead at Future Events or Actions
Hey there!
The total funds raised for the ACLU from Fairy-Tale Heroines enrollments? A whopping $1,850.40. We sent them the money yesterday. A huge thank you to everyone who enrolled or spread the word! We're grateful for all the amazing things you do to make a difference in the world.
Today, we thought it'd be great to chat with you a bit. We've got a bunch of exciting ideas brewing for Carterhaugh, and we only promise to create things that we can deliver with an expert touch. Some of our courses in the past were student suggestions, like The Wine Dark Sea: Folklore of the Ocean and a big course on myth. So, we thought we'd fill you in on what's cooking in our cauldron (metaphorically speaking, of course). Here's a peek:
- A $7 mini course on finding your personal fairy tale is about to drop in the next few days.
- There's a good chance our next big course will be on folklore of hope. Think cozy and fierce stories, a dash of Rebecca Solnit, action items as quests, lots of community, and fellowship. If you loved Rapunzel's Circle: Folklore and Resistance, you'll probably love this, too.
- Another round of the Carterhaugh Writers’ Society
- Dark Academia: Fairies. Or maybe Dark Academia: Breaking the Rules. We have tons of ideas for these.
- A talk on murder ballads. Because, well, murder ballads.
- A reopening of the Fairylore Library, depending on some coordination with special guests.
- A course like Enchant (everyday magic through folklore and fairy tales) but with a Disney villains spin. Lots of empowerment, lots of villain-era energy.
We have more (trust us, you don't want to see our planning document for 2025), but now we really want to hear from you. Email us or reply to this post and tell us what you'd love to see most from us. We read every single response.
Oh, and because this week has been a bit much and it's only Tuesday, we thought we'd share the Folklore and Resistance roundtable we put together in 2022. It's still relevant: the tagline is "how folklore can help us find meaning, resist helplessness, and take action." If you want to hear Terri Windling talk to you in a soothing and powerful manner about making the soup, plus insights from a bunch of folkloric superstars, you can check it out for free right here.
Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Your personal growth and education-and-self-development may be fostered through the upcoming courses at Carterhaugh. For instance, a $7 mini course on finding your personal fairy tale is about to be released, and a potential big course on folklore of hope is in the works, which could provide cozy and empowering stories to inspire action. We encourage you to share your ideas for new courses as well.
