A Graduate's Heartfelt Tribute to Oberlin College
Oberlin College, a unique haven of academics and arts, has left an indelible mark on one individual's life. Hailing from the bustling city of New York, this individual found a perfect balance of small-town charm and city-influenced student life at Oberlin.
Upon visiting the college, the individual felt an immediate sense of community, shaped by the warmth of the people. This welcoming atmosphere was further enhanced by the vibrant musical culture that permeated the campus, with over 500 music performances annually and interdisciplinary activities connecting music, literature, and other arts.
During their time at Oberlin, the individual embarked on a journey of self-discovery, finding a love for bowling and even DJing for the college's radio station. They also delved deep into their studies, majoring in religion and minoring in environmental studies. The individual's academic journey was enriched by the deep support they received from faculty and peers, as well as the college's emphasis on hands-on research and culturally immersive study away programs.
The individual's experience at Oberlin was further enriched by the freedom to explore and the personal attention they received from professors who engaged deeply with their interests, both inside and outside the classroom. This personalised approach greatly contributed to the individual's positive personal experiences at Oberlin.
After graduating in May 2025, the individual continued their connection with Oberlin, working as an admissions counselor. They are now excited to share their love for the college with prospective students and families, encouraging them not to hesitate to reach out with questions.
The individual's time at Oberlin was truly transformative, leaving a lasting impact on their life. They are a testament to the college's commitment to fostering a rich, interdisciplinary, and culturally immersive college life, reflected in its unique experiential learning opportunities and strong integration of arts and academics.
