Amy Winehouse's Timeless Hit: Love is a Losing Game Captured on Tape
Pioneering Music School Offers Free Resources to Aspiring Artists
The PB School, a renowned institution based in the UK, is opening its doors to music enthusiasts by offering a wealth of free resources on its website. From accessing free sounds and plugins to online course samples, the school's Free Stuff page is a treasure trove for music-makers and learners.
The Free Stuff page is not just a collection of resources; it's a platform for learning and experimentation. Visitors can register on the school's website to gain access to a variety of exclusive music-making tools and tutorials. The resources range from basic music theory to advanced composition techniques, catering to all levels of musicians.
One of the standout features of the PB School is its practical approach to learning. Final year students of the BA (Hons) in Music Production and Sound Engineering Degree programme are tasked with re-recording a classic track as part of their assessment. This hands-on approach allows students to apply the theories they've learned in a real-world setting.
Recently, the students chose Amy Winehouse's 'Love is a Losing Game' as their project track. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, the students worked together to create a unique interpretation of the song. Ski Oakenfull, Head of Curriculum at the school, was one of the masterminds behind the task. He was joined by Justin Lindley, a renowned record producer and Sound Engineering instructor at the school, who took a backseat to allow the students to experiment.
The students were also assisted by a team of professionals, including a string quartet from the Royal Academy of Music, professional singer Valerie Etienne, and Advanced Composition instructor Claud Ruelle, who arranged strings for the track. Petru Cotarcea, a member of the string quartet, shared his experience of working in a studio environment with the students. Ricky Vianello, Senior Studio Assistant at the school and one half of techno duo Tapefeed, worked with the students to lay down the drums on the recording. Graham Silbiger, Creative Content Developer at the school, contributed to the recording by laying down the bass and guitar parts.
For those interested in the PB School, more information can be found by contacting the school at +44 20 7729 4884 or by booking a studio tour. The school also offers additional courses in Music Production and DJ Practice, and Music Industry Management.
The PB School's commitment to fostering the next generation of music talent doesn't stop at its degree programme. By offering free resources to the wider community, the school is making music education accessible to all. So, whether you're a seasoned musician or just starting out, the PB School's Free Stuff page is a valuable resource worth exploring.
