The College of Southern Nevada's (CSN) film program continues to make waves in the industry, with several of its students receiving accolades at the recent Student Production Emmy Awards.

Hisonni Mustafa, a CSN student, earned a record-breaking 10 nominations and took home three awards for his work in various categories, including Best Director, Animation/Graphics/Special Effects, and Fiction/Non-Fiction Short Form. Mustafa's winning documentary, "Legend Has It: The Remarkable Rise of Stephen McCain," and his film "Silenced" also received recognition.

John Wherry, another CSN student, won for his film "Getting Cut." Meanwhile, Christina Dietrich was recognised for her writing on the film "Eighteen." In total, CSN students were nominated for a total of 18 Emmys this year.

CSN's success is rooted in its commitment to providing students with a comprehensive film education. The program immerses students in every aspect of filmmaking, from directing and screenwriting to mastering the latest in camera and lighting technology. This hands-on approach is supported by a faculty that is invested in new technology and industry partnerships, ensuring students are well-prepared for the industry.

CSN's program is highly regarded for its excellent faculty and care for students, making it one of the best choices for filmmaking education. The college encourages collaboration among students, fostering a closeness that carries into four-year programs and future employment. This collaborative environment is evident in the numerous productions students work on together, building lasting industry connections.

The college's success is not limited to the Emmys. CSN's Videography & Film program has earned over 100 Emmy® nominations, showcasing a consistent level of excellence recognised at a national industry standard. The program equips students with industry-relevant skills, validated by recognition such as the ACT® WorkKeys® certification.

Moreover, CSN students have won multiple awards in competitions, such as the recent event where they took home five awards. The college offers resources and opportunities that foster student creativity and celebrate their achievements, as evidenced by various campus events and recognition ceremonies related to the arts and student success.

Looking to the future, CSN is considering the possibility of building a new facility for workforce training should a film industry growth bill be approved. The college is also looking to connect with entities involved with the film tax credit bills for potential partnerships.

Mustafa, who graduated from CSN's film program with honours, will head to UNLV next to continue pursuing his film career. Despite its current resources, CSN is doing its best to continue its winning streak in the Student Production Emmy Awards.
