Agency initiates 'Plan and Prepare' promotional crusade

The Doha International Household Institute (DIFI) has recently launched a campaign called "Strategy & Prepare," aimed at advocating for premarital education programs in Qatar. The campaign is designed to promote healthy marriages and reduce divorce rates, a crucial aspect of social cohesion and human development in Qatar's National Vision 2030 planning framework.

Dr. Khalid Al Naama, Director of Family and Study Plan at DIFI, stated that the campaign's primary objective is to raise awareness about the value of family cohesion and reduce separation rates in Qatar. To achieve this, the campaign will employ strategies and methods that are based on regional and global best practices, as well as an evaluation of comparable programs and main statistics on separation rates in Qatar.

One of the key strategies involves conducting educational workshops and seminars focused on premarital counseling and conflict resolution skills. These sessions aim to equip couples with the necessary tools to handle potential disagreements and foster healthy, durable partnerships.

Public awareness campaigns will also be a significant part of the campaign, encouraging open communication, commitment, and understanding between spouses. These campaigns will be supported by collaboration with community and religious leaders, who will promote culturally appropriate values that support family stability.

Access to relationship counseling services will also be provided for couples facing marital challenges. These services will offer guidance and support, helping couples navigate through difficult times and work towards a happier, more secure marriage.

Social media influencers will play a role in creating awareness among youths regarding positive methods to secure marital relationships. By leveraging their influence, the campaign hopes to reach a wider audience and inspire young people to prioritize structure, healthy, and durable partnerships within the Qatari culture.

A study by DIFI, conducted in collaboration with the "League of Arab States," analyzed marital connections in the first 5 years of marriage in the Arab world. The study indicated that conflict, difference in personalities, financial and economic concerns, and parents' treatment were amongst the factors for early marital failure in the Arab world.

According to data by the Preparation and Statistics Authority, 42.1% of divorces occur within the first year of marriage, 58.2% within 1 to 4 years, and 22.1% of separations occur prior to consummation in Qatar. These statistics underscore the need for initiatives like the "Strategy & Prepare" campaign.

Dr. Al Naama emphasized that there will be a positive impact from the implementation of the "Strategy & Prepare" project. He also mentioned that they engage with allies and decision-makers, providing them with plans and tools adopted by neighboring countries to protect families.

The "Strategy & Prepare" campaign is part of DIFI's ongoing efforts to advocate for premarital education programs in Qatar, a vital step towards fostering family welfare and societal stability. For detailed and verified information, it is recommended to consult official publications or announcements from the Doha International Household Institute or related Qatari government family and social development ministries.
