In Astana, the "Waste Sorting and Closed Economy for Children" project, run under the "Birtugtas tarbie - adal azamat" program, is making a significant impact at School-Gymnasium No. 46 complex. This educational initiative is designed to teach children the importance of waste sorting, recycling, and cultivating a circular (closed) economy mindset.

The project's activities are integrated into the daily life of the school complex. Pupils are engaged in growing seedlings in recycled paper cups, watering, and caring for them. These seedlings, once grown, are sent to a specific retirement home in Astana, providing the residents with fresh produce rich in vitamins.

This project is not just about environmental education; it also fosters a philosophy of good deeds among schoolchildren in Astana. By participating in the project, children learn responsibility, care for nature, and empathy towards people living in harmony with it. The project's activities extend beyond the school, involving the local retirement home, thereby promoting a sense of community and shared responsibility.

The "Waste Sorting and Closed Economy for Children" project aligns with the objectives of the "Birtugtas tarbie - adal azamat" program, which aims to develop people with open hearts, hardworking hands, and a conscious view of the world. By educating students on sustainable waste management practices and encouraging active participation in community and ecological well-being, the project supports the program’s emphasis on fostering integrity and social responsibility.

Moreover, the project contributes to Kazakhstan's broader environmental and social development goals, which are increasingly prioritized at national levels, including by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s administration and its emphasis on environmental protection and sustainability.

Participants in the project—children, parents, and teachers—act as members of one big eco-family, contributing to the warmth of the children's hearts that extends to the retirement home residents. This project is a testament to the power of education in shaping responsible, honest citizens and fostering a more conscious and empathetic worldview.

Science, as a subject, plays an integral role in the "Waste Sorting and Closed Economy for Children" project, offering practical insights into environmental science and lifestyle choices. Additionally, the project serves as an educational tool for cultivating a value-based learning experience in education-and-self-development, imparting the importance of empathy, responsibility, and care for both the environment and individuals.
