A fun-filled day of exploration for everyone in the family
On a Saturday, the Historical Museum Bamberg is set to host an engaging event for families with children, titled "Democracy Needs Art!". This event, suitable for both young explorers and history enthusiasts, will take place at the Neue Residenz and the Alte Hofhaltung on Domberg.
The day promises a variety of interactive experiences, including the discovery trails and workshops designed around the exhibition "Picture Walk". Visitors can expect to engage with interactive stations, hands-on activities, and creative workshops that will spark their imagination and deepen their understanding of art and history.
One such workshop is "Lehm ist bunt", where participants can paint tree bark mobiles with washable clay colours, courtesy of LebensLehm. For those interested in music, the info booth and interactive station "Handpan Music" offers sound experiences for both young and old.
The event also includes family tours that delve into the rich ancestry of Bamberg. The "Adventure in History - Following the Footsteps of the Prince-Bishops" tour takes visitors from the Thomaskapelle to the Neue Residenz, offering a glimpse into the past. For younger visitors aged six and above, the "Glimmer of Light and a Warm Home? What was it like back then?" tour is a captivating journey through history.
In addition, attendees can join artists Simona Saccoccia and Judith Siedersberger to print fabric bags together. The "Bunte Buttons" interactive activity allows visitors to design their own unique buttons, adding a personal touch to their day.
The info booth of "Omas gegen Rechts Bamberg" provides information about their work and offers a lucky wheel, offering an opportunity to learn more about local initiatives.
All program points are family-friendly, and visitors can expect to explore, learn, create, and be inspired during the event. For more details on times and meeting points, visit www.domberg-bamberg.de.
It's worth noting that World Children's Day will be held on September 20th, and while the event's theme is not specified, it aligns perfectly with the spirit of celebrating children's rights and wellbeing.
